Longevity

Longevity is a class designed to respect the limits and constraints brought on by life (age, injury, childbirth, etc.). We work the whole body for decades to come. Exercises are thoughtful and carefully chosen. Whatever your age or limitations, we'll find the right progression for you, so you'll find it easier to move again. We progressively build your strength, mobility and flexibility so you can reach your full potential.

The benefits of longevity training

  • Overall strengthening: Selected exercises target the whole body, gently strengthening muscles and joints to promote better posture and greater ease of movement.

  • Personalized exercises: Progressions and variations of exercises enable everyone, whatever their age or limitations, to participate in the class in complete safety. In a caring atmosphere that respects individual differences and rhythms.

  • Injury prevention and management: The exercises on offer help to strengthen vulnerable areas of the body, improve flexibility and mobility, and reduce the risk of injury. The aim is to improve long-term quality of life.

Who is the longevity class

  • Seniors: the longevity class helps maintain muscle strength and bone density, key elements in preventing falls and fractures, which can have serious consequences in the elderly. Staying active also promotes flexibility and mobility, preserving functional independence and enabling us to carry out daily activities without difficulty. Physical activity is also closely linked to improved mood and cognition. (For the same reasons, Gentle Pilates is also recommended for the elderly).

  • To those managing injury or pain: Moderate physical activity can help prevent complications associated with immobility, such as muscle loss, joint stiffness and atrophy. It's important to include proprioception exercises, proper posture and good technique in your training program, so you can learn to move with your injury and avoid the risk of recurrence or aggravation.

  • For beginners or those wishing to train moderately: Exercises performed in a slow, controlled manner make it easier to enter into body awareness. Slowness helps focus on correct form and technique. It promotes deeper muscle strengthening and better activation of stabilizing muscles. The Longevity class (like the Gentle Pilates class) establishes a solid foundation for future progression in a training program.
